I Tried It: L'Oreal Cleansing Balm

Note: I received this product as a complimentary sample from Influenster for testing purposes. All opinions about the product are my own.

Happy weekend!

So I was supposed to review this product on Thursday; unfortunately, life got away from me!! But I'm getting it to you within a reasonable time frame, right?

So about a month ago I got an offer to test out L'Oreal's 6-in-1 Cleansing Balm, which is a combination conditioning product. According to L'Oreal's website, the product is meant to "clean, condition, treat, detangle, soften and add shine" with a low-lather formula. The product is sulfate-free, which I love since I have highlights.

I've been really curious about these balm products. I've seen them advertised pretty regularly lately, and I was wondering if they'd work for my hair, so the offer to try it out was perfect timing! I admit that I'm skeptical to try something new with my hair routine. I generally know what works for my hair and what doesn't. I figured I'd give this a shot though!

I used it on a Friday night and took this photo the next morning having slept on my wet hair (my normal practice). I was actually pretty pleased with the initial result-my hair was soft and had a little of its natural wave, but wasn't quite as crazy as usual. I did notice that it was a little flatter than normal, but I was actually excited about that!!

But a day and a half later (Sunday night), my hair was starting to get greasy. Typically I can go up to four days without washing my hair, but it was at day-three level by Sunday night, and on Monday morning it was day-four disgusting. I pulled it back into a tight pony for the day and then that night came home to wash it before class. I washed it again and threw in a small dollop of blow-dry product so I could dry it straight. But after ten minutes I gave up and left it because it was not getting dry. Three hours went by and I came home to my head still feeling wet, greasy, and disgusting. It was damp, but definitely not wet, and I couldn't touch it without having to wash my hands.

I went in the shower and washed it out with my normal shampoo and didn't use it again.

I've been reading other people's reviews of this product and they seem to be really positive, so I feel like I'm in the minority here. Maybe it's my hair type--I have a large quantity of hair but it's very soft, which isn't exactly normal. I'll try to attribute it to that. But ultimately the product left my hair feeling gross, and I was disappointed at the fact that it didn't work for me.

So, to summarize: it didn't work for me! Would not recommend.

Have you tried a cleansing balm in your hair? Have you tried this one? Let me know if it worked for you!

xoxo
