Golden Hour

dress (sold out in stripes but still available in black) | heels | lipstick in Pure Red

It's Tuesday, which means we're...almost...kind of...halfway through the week?!

Today it is as cold as all heck for April in Baltimore, but a few weeks ago it was gloriously perfect spring weather! It had been a rough 24 hours for me with the Baltimore Style magazine interview coming out (see my post on that ), and I was ready to let go and move on with my life.

The best way for me to do that? With my clothes.

I'd recently picked up this dress off of Target's website after initial trigger hesitation in store. I'm so glad I did, because this piece is a beauty (and the stripes sold out fast)! It's gorgeous and made of really quality fabric, surprising for a dress that cost me around $35. It's both trendy and classic--the off-the-shoulder is so right now, but it gives off a fantastic vintage vibe that I absolutely adore. It had been sitting in my closet for a few weeks and decided I was ready to put it on and wear it. I decided to up the trend factor by pairing it with these lace-up shoes, which if you've been following my posts I've been wearing a lot lately! They are a little higher than LCS's usually price point (around $70 instead of $50), but they're definitely on trend and pretty comfy with the chunkier heel. I will definitely be wearing them all summer.

I did my "war paint" and finished it off with a pop of red lip because it's the thing that makes me feel powerful and confident, even when I don't think I am. Then I headed over to school and sat outside with a beer in hand, laughing and putting the past behind me. My friend Sydney shot me out on the school balcony just as the sun was setting, and I was finally able to put my negative feelings to bed and move on with my life.

I think sometimes we forget there's a real power in what we wear, and that dressing up can be the weapon we need when everything else seems to be crappy. For me, putting on a pretty dress is not only fun, but it's a game changer when I'm feeling down.

Do you have any clothing you like to wear when you're feeling down? Do you have anything you do to bring you out of a negative funk? Tell me about it in the comments below!

xoxo
